Peace Pole & Big Blue ChairRotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake Celebrates First Peace Pole Dedication The Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake, in partnership with the Gun Barrel City Beautification Committee, recently celebrated the dedication of its first Peace Pole at Gun Barrel City Park. The park now features both the newly installed Peace Pole and the Beautification Committee’s popular Big Blue Chair, creating a welcoming space that reflects community pride, unity, and hope. The Peace Pole project is part of a broader Rotary initiative to promote peace and goodwill throughout the Cedar Creek Lake area. Following the installation in Gun Barrel City, the Club plans to place three additional Peace Poles in Tool, Mabank, and Kemp. Standing eight feet tall, the Peace Pole displays messages on all four sides. Two sides feature inscriptions in English, while the other two present the same messages in Spanish. The messages read, “May Peace Prevail on Earth” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth and Let It Begin with Me.” Peace Poles are recognized worldwide as symbols of humanity’s shared desire for peace. The Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake believes that meaningful change begins at the local level and with individual actions. The message, “Let It Begin with Me,” serves as a reminder that each person can help build a more peaceful world through kindness, understanding, and service. “The Peace Pole is more than a monument,” shared Rotary Club representatives. “It is a reminder that peace starts within each of us and grows through our actions in our homes, our communities, and beyond.” The Club remains committed to Rotary International’s mission of promoting peace, fostering goodwill, and serving communities around the world. Through projects like the Peace Pole initiative, Rotary hopes to inspire residents and visitors alike to embrace cooperation, respect, and service above self. Gun Barrel City Peace PolePlease come out May 27th at 11am for the dedication of the Rotary International Peace Pole and the Big Adirondack Chair at GBC Park, 301 Municipal Drive. Light refreshments will be served.
This special project is a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake, the Gun Barrel City Beautification Committee, and the City of Gun Barrel City — a true example of community in action. We would love to see friends, neighbors, and families come together to celebrate another beautiful addition to our town.  |

Unite for Good The Rotary International theme for 2025-2026 is "Unite for Good". This message encourages Rotary members to work together to create positive change in their communities and around the world. The theme emphasizes the power of unity and collaboration in achieving Rotary's goals of service and impact. The "Unite for Good" theme replaces the traditional annual "presidential theme"with a more consistent "presidential message" to streamline branding and communication. This message aims to inspire members, participants, and the public to unite and work towards a shared purpose of doing good. Rotary's focus on unity is particularly relevant in a world often divided by various factors. By emphasizing the power of collaboration, Rotary aims to demonstrate that people from diverse backgrounds can come together to address global challenges and make a positive impact. The theme encourages members to connect with others, build relationships, and work together to achieve common goals. |
Peace PoleThe Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake has a new project to promote peace and remind everyone that peace begins with us. We will be placing peace poles in our local communities, the first one to be placed in Mabank at Veterans Park. This photo is  representative of what the peace pole will look like. |

World Polio Day  Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake President Elect Trish Deeds (right) presents a
certificate to Kathleen “Kat” Knapp for being the guest speaker Oct. 24. Knapp gave an emotional speech, sharing her experience as a polio survivor. Rotary will dedicate a book in her honor to be given as part of the club’s Reading is Fundamental book giveaway. Past District 5830 Governor Mike Groom (right) with wife Andrea Groom support Polio Plus, Rotary’s effort to eradicate polio. Groom, during his tenure as district governor, led a campaign to raise funds for Polio Plus and continues to speak to clubs, encouraging members to give to this worthy cause. |

Federal Reserve Speaker 3-28-25 Our March 28th luncheon was a tremendous success, with over 100 attendees gathering to hear an outstanding presentation from Federal Reserve Business Economist Mariam Yousuf. We were honored to host more than 70 guests alongside 30+ members of the Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake. A heartfelt thank you to Fig’s Steakhouse for graciously accommodating our large crowd, and an especially huge thank you to Chef Avner Samuel for his exceptional work in the kitchen. His team was incredible, and the gourmet meal they served is still being talked about—people are raving! It was an unforgettable event filled with great conversation, insight, and community. Thank you to everyone who joined us! |
